Some Sql Thoughts

1.When we need the date to be retrieved instead of datetime that we get by using this GETDATE() , We can use a convert Function for this.

SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),GETDATE(),103)
select datepart(yyyy,GETDATE()) //To retrieve year
select year(GETDATE()) //To retrieve year

2.To take the count of distinct values of a column

DECLARE @counter int
SET @counter= (SELECT COUNT(DISTINCT CountryID)FROM  STATE)

HappyCoding ! 😉
